Making hexa mesh on cutted box (cutted by cylinder)

Posted by ByeongDo Lee at December 29. 2016

i wanna make mesh hexa on cutted box by cylinder (Using Salome)
When box is cutted by cylinder, this box isn't recognized as a duct.
So I can't adopt 3D hexa hypotheses.
Can you help me?

Hi

Try to use 3D Extrusion algo. See an attached script as an example.

Alternatively you can apply Operations > Partition, to split it into blocks suitable for Hexa mesher.

Don't forget to apply Repair > Remove Extra Edges (with Union faces... activated) to a result of Partition.

Thanks for rapid reply

but my case is a little different. Both up and bottom side of box are not cutted by cylinder

For example, like this attachment

Then, you can create such a 2D geometry like in the picture, mesh it with quadrangles, extrude the 2D mesh into a 3D one and remove hexahedrons located inside the cylinder.

Modification > Remove > Elements using filter with ( Belong to Geom = cylinder ) criterion.
